The collection is inspired by metaphysical concepts linked to the symbolism of the number four, the square, the cross, and the “merchant’s mark” (quatre de chiffre), a set of corporate marks used by artisans during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. All 4-DE-CHIFFRE creations are designed and made to order by myself, Ludovic Angevin, founder of METTÄ, in the brand’s studio located in the Paris region. Each model is limited in quantity and hand-stamped. The raw materials used come from the reuse of scraps, antique fabrics, and end-of-stock items from the clothing brand. The human value and authenticity of our textile creations stem primarily from their artisanal nature, reinforced by the uniqueness of their design and construction. This dimension is a conscious choice, the desire to build a living process that gives authentic depth to our creations, which goes beyond our understanding. Artisanal work requires numerous skills, a perpetual quest for perfection and technical excellence. By their very nature, they constitute a promise in favor of environmentally friendly consumption.
