Adam Solsona

Technical Approach

I do not consider myself to have an artistic approach in the strict sense; I let myself be guided by what the wood has to offer me while seeking to reveal its natural beauty.

My technical approach mainly consists of transforming a log into an object somewhere between a utility item and a work of art. Sculpting, hollowing, and shaping wood while it rotates has something hypnotic about it; it is only when my lathe stops that I can see the evolution and the details of the piece.

My inspiration comes as I discover the wood’s grain and its imperfections. I like to play with contrasts and shapes while aspiring to create refined pieces that blend technicality and simplicity.

I only turn green wood. This is what allows me to turn it extremely thin; it is also thanks to this that I achieve the wood’s deformation and that my pieces are never perfectly round. The drying process provides the final touch to each of my pieces, which makes them unique.

Wooden light fixture - Handcrafted

Turned ash wood pendant light.
