COVADONGA CASTRO

In my artistic practice, I immerse myself deeply in abstraction through two complementary mediums: painting and ceramics. Currently, I am focusing on my "Points" series, which I am developing in my studio in Normandy. This series is the result of a meticulous study of color, combined with a repeated exploration of dot patterns in space.

Each painting in my "Points" series is much more than a simple representation of the seasons of the year as I perceive them in Normandy. They also embody my personal vision of aerial observation, a long-held fascination nurtured by my photographs taken from the sky. The imaginary landscapes that form in my mind find their expression through the patterns of dots scattered across the space of my canvases. Thus, my works offer a unique and poetic perspective, inviting the viewer to escape through visual universes where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur. My studio, imbued with the changing beauty of the surrounding landscapes, plays a crucial role in this process, fueling my creativity and allowing me to capture these nuances with subtlety in my works.

Alongside my paintings, I also create ceramic pieces. I opt for simple forms, but I transform them into surfaces for artistic expression by introducing paint. This fusion of ceramics and painting creates unique art objects that marry the tactile texture of ceramic with the visual depth of painting.

Overall, my artistic approach is a continuous journey of exploration and experimentation, where I seek to capture the infinite richness of color, form, and texture through different perspectives and mediums.

Authentic painting - Original artwork

Oil on paper, 60 x 43 cm, 2023

"Point 001" is a fascinating exploration of texture and color, capturing the imagination with its pastel hues and ascending dot pattern.
