Laurie Bardela

Laurie Bardela is a French artist born in Paris in 1983. An emerging artist, she grew up on the French Riviera where she practiced painting and sculpture throughout her childhood, nourished by local influences such as Picasso, Fernand Léger, and the ceramists of Vallauris. In Nice and later Aix-en-Provence, she completed extensive studies in economics, but a few years later, she was drawn back by her constant need for creativity and visual expression. She gradually left this overly conventional discipline to turn toward architecture, her preferred field, which she studied abroad and then in Paris. Today, passionate about her profession in which she expresses a personality that is both intuitive and rigorous, she draws an influence from the art of building that leads her to develop her painting practice using geometric patterns which she treats in flat areas of color. Between reflection and spontaneity, between poetic curves and abrupt lines, she plays with the intensity of colors and the vitality of contrasts.

After having lived in Paris, it is now in her studio very close to the village of Biot that she expresses her sensitivity and seeks harmony, a perfect balance between shapes and colors.
