WOOD FLOWER
Creation of handcrafted lamps in wood and bioplastic, Bédée (35)
Olivier tells us how his desire to marry wood with light gradually shaped what is now his profession.
Tell us your story, how did you find your vocation?
I have always loved creating with my hands, working with natural materials, and designing objects that are both useful and aesthetic. The idea of making lamps came while looking for a way to combine wood with light, using an artisanal and environmentally friendly approach.
Little by little, I developed my own models, until it became my main activity.
How would you describe your style and artistic approach in a few words?
A clean, natural, modern and warm style. Simple lines, sustainable materials, and a focus on quality.
What themes or subjects inspire you the most in your work?
I draw a lot of inspiration from nature, organic shapes, and the desire to create a soft and soothing atmosphere through light.
How do you work?
I work in my studio in Brittany. Each lamp is handmade in small batches.
The bases are made of solid white ash, a local and sustainable wood. The lampshades are 3D-printed in PLA, a plant-based bioplastic that I model and print myself.
Each piece is assembled, tested, and finished by hand. The lamps operate via a 5V USB cable and are CE certified.
Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…
I handle everything myself: design, manufacturing, testing, assembly, and shipping. It’s comprehensive work, sometimes demanding, but very rewarding.
Seeing my lamps go to customers who appreciate their aesthetic and ambiance is what motivates me the most.
A message to convey, anything else you would like to share?
I aim to offer sustainable, locally made items using materials chosen for their quality and low environmental impact.
Each lamp is designed to last, being both useful and decorative.
