JÉRÔME SPIESSER
Geometric abstract painter, Orléans (45)
Jérôme shares his daily life as an artist and PhD in art history and archaeology with us.
Tell us your story, how did you find your calling?
I was trained by internationally renowned painters, then I pursued university studies in art history and archaeology at the Sorbonne, eventually obtaining a doctorate.
How would you describe your style and your artistic approach in a few words?
I am searching for the principles of universal aesthetics in accumulations, first in superimpositions, and now in the rhythms of stratifications.
What themes or subjects inspire you the most in your work?
As a theorist of abstract art, I love circles, the quintessential, timeless shape, and the color green for its softness and the serenity it exudes.
How do you work?
I work in my intimate studio, to the sound of rock music, sometimes with a glass of white wine on the workbench. I am fond of painting on linen canvas and paper.
Do you have a particular technique, a specific expertise? Without revealing all your secrets, have you developed your own methods and techniques?
I have mastered epoxy resin on canvas and oil painting.
Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…
I start all my days with a coffee in hand, a bowl of cereal on the counter, and a few pages of an art book. I am as curious as I am a foodie, a true epicurean!
A message to convey, anything else you would like to share?
Abstract art is to art what scientific reasoning is to science; it is the science of art!
