Tell us your story, how did you find your calling?

During a sleepless night, I discovered the Japanese technique of rankaku (egg-shell inlay) in a television report

How would you describe your style and your artistic approach in a few words?

How do you work?

At the end of a dead-end street in the high country of the Hérault region lies my studio.
I practice vegetable and European lacquer work, very often featuring eggshell inlay (quail, chicken, duck, goose). This is the long and meticulous Japanese technique of rankaku, with an average of thirty layers of sanded lacquer required to complete a piece.

Do you have a particular technique, a specific expertise? Without revealing all your secrets, have you developed your own methods and techniques?

I was trained by Asian masters in traditional vegetable lacquer techniques.
This apprenticeship allowed me to develop a contemporary approach to this unique medium, lacquer, by adding other materials to make it more modern.
