Multidisciplinary artist, MONTROUGE (92)

Laura reveals how a "creative accident" became her unique artistic expression, enriching her practice through experimentation.

Tell us your story, how did you find your calling?

I am a self-taught artist whose passion for creation manifested at a very young age. From childhood, I have felt the need to express my full creativity through various personal projects, exploring forms and materials while playing with colors.
Upon moving to Paris in 2015, I spent many hours in museums and found myself completely inspired by the city’s artistic atmosphere.
From Kupka to Magnelli and up to today's emerging artists, my influences are numerous and varied.
Travel, architecture, design, and music play an essential role in my artistic process.

How would you describe your style and your artistic approach in a few words?

I explore a variety of mediums – from paper to canvas, from ceramics to textiles, as well as wood, paper, leather, and even metal, with the aim of creating works that are both radiant and poetic. The spontaneity of the colors I select and the intertwined forms exude a certain rhythm and a comforting positive energy.

What themes or subjects inspire you the most in your work?

Travel, architecture, music

How do you work?

I work mainly in my studio in Montrouge, as well as in the workshops of the artisans I collaborate with.
I allow myself time for inspiration—wandering around Paris and discovering the latest exhibitions, or sometimes getting out of the city to disconnect.

Do you have a particular technique or specific expertise? Without revealing all your secrets, have you developed your own methods and techniques?

I am self-taught and began developing my graphic style using acrylic paint and collage. The desire to explore different mediums and incorporate texture into my work was born from a creative accident. I was faced with the need to cover up flaws or marks added unexpectedly. Instead of trying to hide them with paint, I decided to integrate them and transform them into full-fledged elements. This approach led me to layer materials and create new visual dynamics. These accidents ultimately enriched my artistic practice, opening up new avenues for experimentation and expression.

Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…

I try to turn every constraint into a new challenge. Life as an artist and entrepreneur isn't easy every day, but I chose it and I wouldn't go back for anything in the world.
