LEONCE

LEONCERAMICS

Ceramicist, PARIS (75)

LeonCe shares their values and approach with us, respecting the time required for conscious, artisanal craftsmanship.

Tell us your story, how did you find your calling?

At 20, I studied Art History and did a little clay sculpting. I later became a photographer, then, in parallel, I took up modeling again and haven't stopped since.

How would you describe your style and your artistic approach in a few words?

I create ceramic objects in white stoneware, in a contemporary style with organic shapes.

What themes or subjects inspire you most in your work?

I feel influenced by artists such as Jean Arp, Valentine Schlegel, André Borderie,..., as well as the architecture and design of the 50s and 60s. Nature also inspires me, particularly the Brittany coastline, which can be seen in my sculptures and photographs.

How do you work?

I create ceramic objects out of white grogged stoneware. They are hand-built with a commitment to respecting the time it takes to craft a unique, artisanal piece.

Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…

I also work freelance as a photographer-author, focusing on the same themes of Nature, the Sea, and respect for the environment.

Any message to pass on, anything else you would like to share?

Handmade items allow for unique, distinct, and durable pieces, and natural materials are better for the Planet—a lifestyle to adopt!
