Allison, aka Mugen, transports us into her vast artistic universe, inspired by dinosaurs and mythological monsters.
Tell us your story, how did you find your calling?
Drawn to art from a young age, first through the piano, then dance, I also pursued a degree in art history.
Since then, I have taken up the violin and am rediscovering, through visual arts, a true pleasure and a real way to express myself.
How would you describe your style and artistic approach in a few words?
I find it very varied because I am always looking for new techniques to master. I like using noble and diverse materials.
What themes or subjects inspire you most in your work?
Dinosaurs first; they are a true passion of mine.
I then broaden my scope to mythological monsters, such as the phoenix or kaiju (my dog's name, by the way).
I believe I find in them a certain grandeur, a virtuosity that brings us humans back to our very small place.
How do you work?
In my living room, where I also have the piano and the violin. It’s my artistic zone.
I’m looking for original methods like styracosaurus mounts; I love DIY, so it’s all good.
Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…
I am on the autism spectrum, and both of my children also have their own cognitive particularities (ASD, ADHD, DYS), so my daily life is quite hectic.
I also have another job as a dog trainer; I enjoy a challenge there too, as I have specialized in working with aggressive dogs.
A message to convey, anything else you would like to share?
Live your dreams! Don't get hung up on "how will I get by," or "how will society accept what I'm doing?"....
Dare, live, be happy and the rest will follow.
