Valérie shares how the union of her two passions gave birth to the exceptional products she offers us today with Nez Dans les Fleurs.
Tell us your story, how did you find your calling?
A graduate of Isipca in Versailles and a perfumer in Grasse, fragrances and flowers have filled my daily life for over 20 years....
Passionate about floral art as well as leather goods, I wanted to combine my expertise as a perfumer and artisan into a single expression.
To reinvent the ancestral heritage of Grasse, once renowned for its leathers, I am now immersing my nose in leather flowers to offer you exceptional leather objects, notably scented leather flowers that will add an olfactory and visual signature to your interiors.
How would you describe your style and your artistic approach in a few words?
I create scented leather flowers that will diffuse their fragrance in your home for many months, without ever having to worry about them wilting! An exceptional product for both the eyes and the senses...
What are the themes or subjects that inspire you most in your work?
Flowers, and in particular perfume plants, have a special place in the Nez dans les Fleurs universe.
Their beauty but also their fragrance are an inexhaustible source of inspiration....
But everything that surrounds me inspires me: people, landscapes, scents, gastronomy, and art in general. Being curious and taking an interest in what surrounds us is essential in everyday life.
How do you work?
My approach is to work primarily with French suppliers, locally whenever possible, to ensure quality craftsmanship and support the local economy.
I mainly use vegetable-tanned leather, water-based colors and dyes, and I create the fragrances that scent your flowers myself.
For the Galuchat collection, the stingray leather comes mainly from luxury leather goods offcuts to maintain an upcycling approach.
Do you have a particular technique or specific expertise? Without revealing all your secrets, have you developed your own methods and techniques?
I have developed a special technique to scent the leather that will be used to craft your flowers and fans.
I create the fragrances myself, allowing me to oversee the entire creation process for my scented leather goods.
