KOKENOMORI
Creation of Kokedamas and botanical arts, Gières (38)
The creative couple tells us how their passion for Japanese culture led them to create Kokenomori
Tell us your story, how did you find your calling?
We (Fanny and Donatien) are both huge fans of Japanese culture, and our shared interest in DIY and other creative hobbies led us to create Kokenomori to share our love for Kokedamas, a minimalist Japanese plant art that has won us over.
How would you describe your style and artistic approach in a few words?
Through our Kokedamas, we wish to bring a touch of nature into people's daily lives to green their interiors in an original and aesthetic way.
What themes or subjects inspire you the most in your work?
Nature above all else. Taking a walk in the forest, taking the time to recharge in unspoiled places. We are also inspired by many Japanese artists, as well as the Japanese minimalist art of plants.
How do you work?
We make all our Kokedamas by hand using natural materials. We carefully select our plants, choosing those best suited to the art of Kokedama.
Do you have a particular technique or specific expertise? Without revealing all your secrets, have you developed your own methods and techniques?
There are many schools in Japan specializing in the art of Kokedama; through our various experiences, we have also developed our own expertise, particularly regarding the materials we use, such as the substrates for the plant.
Tell us about your daily life, your constraints, your joys, your successes…
Craftsmanship is an exciting adventure in which we thrive! It brings us so much joy when we see people appreciate our work, and it is thanks to them that we can make our dream come true.
A message to convey, something you would like to share?
Plants are essential to our well-being, so adopt a Kokedama ;)
