The whale, depicted in a Tangram style, is made of charcoal grey straw marquetry. The outline representing the ocean depths is made of light blue shaded straw marquetry, all set in a light oak-effect frame.
Straw marquetry is a very lengthy and luxurious technique that involves applying dyed rye straw onto various surfaces. I carefully select each strand, open them, flatten them, and then apply them one by one to different supports (furniture, decorative objects, art pieces...).
Total dimensions: width 31.50cm / height 22.50cm / depth: 3cm
The straw is grown, cut, and dyed in France, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. A small-batch handmade piece created in my small workshop in the Hauts-de-France.
Materials: MDF, rye straw, white vinyl glue, metal hardware, paper, oak veneer.
Please note: color shades may vary slightly depending on your screen calibration.
Shipped via La Poste Colissimo with insurance and protective interior packaging.
Care: Straw marks easily from knocks and scratches. Wipe gently with a simple soft cloth to remove dust.
