Artwork description
This tondo features a face with dense, hatched features, evoking the depth of an ancient engraving. The composition is marked by a layering of materials, where the ghost typographies of the collaged papers mingle with the play of shadows created with a Bic pen.
The work of sedimentation is particularly present here: the cool, grey tones of the background contrast with the warmth of the gold accents, creating the impression of a portrait unearthed from the past. The face seems inhabited by a gentle melancholy, reinforced by the "faded" aspect characteristic of this series.
